Robin Austin held his annual Christmas Open House on Friday December 18th. Austin’s office was packed with people and Goodies were served.

“The new year holds, hopefully, some good news for the people of Kitimat. We can all hope that there will be a large capital expenditure by one of the LNG Proponents, Shell has announced that they are going to spend a lot of money on their site,” said Austin. “I think we are going to see the continuation of the Rio Tinto Smelter moving up to full production, they are moving up to 384 pots there.”

Austin stated they had over 200 pots started up.

As for Austin, he will be returning to the legislature in February where the budget is coming up. He expressed the government has hinted about money being put into the Ministry of Children and families and he hoped they would start to take care of some of the deficits. He stated the school system could be better funded.

“We will continue to fight for the things that we believe in, fighting for people, and for the resources so people could have better quality lives,” said Austin.

MP Nathen Cullen was supposed to be present as well but was unable to attend.
