The Talented Students of Mount Elizabeth Middle and Secondary School’s Musical Theatre Class are getting ready once again to take to the stage. They will be performing the musical Annie, on the 15th, 16th and on the 23rd of January at 8:00 pm. They will be performing a matinee on the 24th at 2:00 pm.

“It’s one of those fun shows that the kids really enjoy. We’ve got amazing talent in our Annie, in the other characters that need to sing the lines as well,” said Rick Jones, Musical Theatre Teacher. “Annie is about a little girl, an orphan, who lost her parents. She believes that they are coming back for her because they gave her a half of a locket and a note that says they will return for her.”

A millionaire, Daddy Warbucks comes to the orphanage to treat an orphan to Christmas every year. This year, he selects Annie and will soon adopt her. However, Rooster and Lilly have plans to make themselves wealthy at her expense. Annie is set in 1933.

“The main theme is: Tomorrow will always be better,” said Jones. “It’s all about looking for the goodness in the future, even if today’s a tough day, being positive and being truthful.”

The show stars Delaney Ribeiro as Annie, Robert Capezzuto as Daddy Warbucks, Chelsea Pecheco as Ms. Hannigan, Tanyn Wahl as Rooster and Alyssa Gibaldi as. Lilly St. Regis.

Jones told us the plans for the set design will reflect the origins of Little Orphan Annie, which was a comic book and it will have a book theme too it.

“Please come out and support. Tickets are available at Pyramid Printers and they are also being sold by the students for $15. Seating is Festival. They make great stocking stuffers so buy them early,” said Jones.
