Kitimat Marlin Swim Club
The Kitimat Marlins swim club was in Prince George over the weekend for their annual short course (25 meter pool) invitational swim meet. Nine teams from all across northern bc were in attendance making for very strong competition.
Zachary Dumas (16) broke the northwest BC Record in the boys 15 and over 200 meter butterfly. Dumas already holds the regional record for the 200 meter fly for long course ( 50 meter pool) Dumas shaved .18 of a second off the record swam in 1997 by Garth Coxford from Terrace. Dumas took the silver medal for overall points in the 16 and over boys division.
Other medalist in overall points for the Marlins were Kleanza Cathers (16) gold in the 16 and over girls, Jadyen Johnston (11) gold in the 11 year old boy, Leah Desousa (13) bronze in the 12-13 girls, Emilie Krabes (11) Bronze in the 11 year old girls.
Krabes was also one of two swimmers for the Marlins that swam to 100 % personal best times in all 8 of their individual races. Megan Forrest (8) also swam to all personal best times.
