REPORTING · 25th November 2015
Walter McFarlane
Cheryl Rumley from the Rotary Club of Kitimat and Sharon Nichols were at Council on Monday, November 16th to let them know about the Light up Kitimat event which is coming up this Sunday. They were there representing the Light up Kitimat Committee.

“The Light up Kitimat Committee is a collective of business, organization and many different people,” said Rumley. ”We’re looking forward to our second annual event and this year, with the generosity of our many sponsors, we’re able to continue to make this a free family festival.”

She thanked the District of Kitimat for their support and invited Mayor and Council to the event.

“We look forward to some added parts for families, for children, and also, the special visitor from the North Pole,” said Rumley. “It will be held at the courthouse parking lot, right across from the hospital, November 29th, from 5-7 pm.”

She showed Council a slideshow put together from one of the volunteers.

Councillor Rob Goffinet asked if the District of Kitimat Snow Flakes could be coordinated to appear prior to the event. He was told they would be attempting to get them up, dependant on weather, as well as having them repaired and ready to go. These were put up last week, on Thursday, November 19th.
