The Kitimat RCMP are appealing for a witness to come forward from the November 12th 2015 early morning collision between a pedestrian and a truck.
On Thursday November 12th 2015 at approximately 7:00am, emergency services including the Kitimat RCMP, BC Ambulance and Kitimat Fire Department responded to a collision between a pedestrian and a pickup truck near the intersection of Haisla Blvd. and Tsimshian Blvd. in Kitimat.
The Kitimat RCMP have learned that at the time of the collision, a vehicle travelling eastbound on Haisla Blvd stopped suddenly to allow the pedestrian to cross the roadway just moments before the collision. The driver of this vehicle is being asked to contact the Kitimat RCMP.

Wondering if this happened at the crosswalk leading to the former Supervalue store?
If so, they really do need better lighting here. I thought there was discussion already of putting a light system here. I wonder what happened to this plan.

I think at major sidewalks like the downtown core and places like schools there should be maybe flashing lights and Lights directly above the crosswalks so drivers can see pedestrians. Especially now that winter is coming and it is getting darker earlier. Accidents like this could be prevented.
