REPORTING · 6th November 2015
Walter McFarlane
Kitimat Mayor and Councillors have an opportunity at the end of the Council Meetings to give a brief summary of their activities for the previous weeks. When Mayor Phil Germuth took his turn on Monday, November 2nd, he stated:

“I’ve heard in the community, some people are upset that we’re not updating enough on what’s going on and I know that at Council Meetings we do things and I believe our local media are actually doing a real good job.”

He encouraged the community to subscribe to the Northern Sentinel or read the Kitimat Daily Online to stay informed. Councillor Mary Murphy expressed the District of Kitimat also has their quarterly newsletters.

In addition (and unmentioned at the meeting), there is North Coast Energy News, meetings of Council are televised live on City West, Channel Ten and streamed on their website. The District of Kitimat posts videos of their Regular Meetings of Council on their Website.

The District of Kitimat Website has a wealth of information about what is going on in the community as well. At a recent City Council Meeting, we were informed the District is working to post a digital copy of the Council Information Package on the page.

Finally, we at the Kitimat Daily post Regular Meetings, Committee of the Whole Meetings and Special Meetings on a Daily Motion Channel.
