The students, teachers and Parent Association of Kildala Elementary School got together to thank the many people who made the new playground, which was put together last summer by Wayjo Contracting and a small army of volunteers, possible through their funding on Friday, October 2nd.
“I’m going to tell you a little story about a long journey about believing in yourself, the power of the community and how nothing can stop you from making something happen, if you just put your passion into it,” said Kimberly Wasyleski, Kildala PAC President.
She told the students there was a small outdated playground which did not meet the needs of the children, and the PAC has been raising funds for four years.
“Sometimes not knowing what we were doing, as some of us had never done any fundraising before, but with the help of our community, family and friends, we made great connections,” said Wasyleski. “It has been a lot of hard work, countless hours and a few bumps here and there, but it has all come together, piece by piece, until all of a sudden, it was here.”
She expressed this was more than just a playground, it was a place for families to come together and enjoy. She expressed at the end of the day, everyone had something to give, whether it was time, money or positive energy.
Wasyleski thanked everyone for not only helping with the playground, but for teaching the students a lesson about how a community can come together and do great things.
Each of the many sponsors names were read out, and each who was present was given a thank you card, created by one of the Kildala Students.
