Canada LNG Held its community barbecue on Tuesday, September 15th at the Rod and Gun. The place was packed full of people who were out to learn more about the project, or enjoy the food prepared by Horizon North Camps and Catering.

“Today, we have the LNG Canada, Community Barbecue. It is a fantastic summer day, and one of the last ones we’re going to have to talk to the community and have the community come to us to talk to us about the LNG Canada Project and celebrate the environmental application which came in over the summer and talk to everybody about the current status of the project,” said Katharine Birtwistle, Communications Manager.

LNG Canada is still in its pre-investment decision. They are working to make sure the project is economically viable. They have the regulatory requirements and now are doing the final bit of work to reach the final investment decision.

Birtwistle said they are unable to comment on a timeline at this time.

“Summer for us was the environmental application so having that approved both by the BC and Federal Governments was a really big milestone that we’re really proud of. A lot of hard work really went in with the BC and the First Nations to get there. So it was a real collaborative effort. We’re really, really pleased with that,” said Birtwistle.

She thanked everyone for coming out and supporting them and asking questions. Birtwistle expressed they will be opening new waves of communicating with the public such as a new Facebook Page. For further information on the project, look for updates on the LNG Canada Website, their Facebook page and in the media. The door at their information centre is open for people to come in and talk one on one.
