REPORTING · 26th August 2015
The Hirsch Creek Golf and Winter Club came up at the Committee of the Whole Meeting of Council on Monday, August 24th.
In a report to Council from Martin Gould, the Director of Leisure Services, Gould described the history of the 2015 grant money to the Hirsch Creek Golf and Winter Club.
At the February 23rd Special Meeting of Council, the Hirsch Creek Golf and Winter Club requested $162,000. On August 17th, they requested a $60,000 advance of the money. According to the report, the money was to be released at the end of the year, depending on the financial report from the Golf Club for 2015 which is expected in mid-November.
The motion, which was made by Councillor Rob Goffinet, was to authorize the release of $60,000 as long as the Golf Club operates the Golf Club and the District acquires surplus lands around the golf course.
Goffinet said the Hirsch Creek Golf and Winter Club has asked for an installment of their grant money. He asked if there were any further details. Gould stated he would be meeting with the golf course the following day to discuss the excess lands and formalize an agreement regarding long term service.
Feldhoff stated one of the items, located in the curling rink, would need to be put in place well in advance of the curling season. He stated if there is a time sensitive issue, he would like to hear more about it in the coming weeks.
The motion was called and carried.
