It is election time in Canada, the Federal Election was called on August 2nd and Canadians will be going to the polls on October 19th. On August 18th, Nathan Cullen, the Incumbent for the Skeena Riding opened his office in Kitimat.
His office is located in Century House, on the top floor, above the Royal Bank.
Gerald Amos from the Haisla Nation, saying there is a lot of work which needs to be done. Cullen said his goal was not about dividing people, but building bridges between the many communities in the Northwest.
“I think for this country to heal itself and come together requires a recognition of our past, an acknowledgement of the work we have to do now, and that builds the future we really have to work for, one where we treat people well and with due respect over this land,” said Cullen.
He stated there were several topics which needed to be addressed. Scrapping Bill C-51, fixing the voting system so every vote counts, repairing the Senate, having leadership who respects the courts and stopping the Northern Gateway Pipeline.
“There was a poll out just this morning,” said Cullen. “75% of all Canadians want change.”
After the office opening, Cullen went out door knocking.
