Councillor Rob Goffinet wants the community of Kitimat to check out the Cenotaph. At the Regular Meeting of Council on Monday, August 17th, he reported on the rededication ceremony, which took place on August 6th.
“I had the pleasure of representing Mayor and Council at the rededication of the Cenotaph and I would just encourage anyone in town, the weather is beautiful and the Centennial Park, the rejuvenated cenotaph area is beautiful, very peaceful, place in Kitimat,” said Goffinet.
He stated the rededication ceremony honoured former fire chief, Aubrey Creed, who designed the Cenotaph.
“It kind of showed what the fire department and the chiefs in the past have meant to Kitimat and still do. It did highlight the excellent work that the recreation department, staff and the workers of the District have done in making that centennial park a great place and I wanted to recognize them,” said Goffinet.
