REPORTING · 14th August 2015
Walter McFarlane
On June 27th, Mr. Mikes Steakhouse Casual attempted to break the world record for having a large gathering of people with the same name, in this case, Michael or Mike using the Mikes Unite Campaign.

During that week, $1 from every Mikeburger and on the 27th, $1 off of every entree, would be donated to that restaurant’s local chapter of Kidsport. In addition, every social media post about the event would raise an additional 25 cents for Kidsport, to a maximum of $5000.

On Friday, August 14th, Kidsport Representatives Cyndi McIntosh and Shaun O’Neill were present at Mr. Mikes in Kitimat to receive a cheque for $837. We were told by Manager, Katica Botz, only three people named Mike showed up, but they sold a lot of mikeburgers anyway.

“Kidsport is a non-profit fund that is started here in Kitimat that is to support kids that wouldn’t normally be getting into sport. All the funds raised in town stay in town,” said O’Neil. “We couldn’t be happier that Mr. Mikes chose to do a fundraiser and named us as one of our charities for the year.”
