The Kildala Parent Advisory Committee is seeing years hard work and fundraising payoff as the Playground they worked so hard for is being assembled in front of Kildala Elementary School.
“It’s a lot of hard work though, It’s awesome, it’s going to be rewarding,” said Kimberly Wasyleski, PAC President.
The funding period has been going on for around four years according to Wasyleski, put forward by the PAC. They got the ball moving three years ago and then gave a big push over the last two years.
The playground is being constructed by Wayjo Contracting and a small army of volunteers. Wayjo builds playgrounds in BC and in the Yukon. They hope to have the playground completed on Saturday, August 15th.
“On a build that is supposed to be just mine, it is uncommon to get,” said Colin Leslie. He added it is very good to have the volunteers come out and lend a hand. “Not very often do people show up when the contractors are supposed to build it.”
“If anyone wants to come down and lend a hand, we’re shovelling Gravel tomorrow and you’re more than welcome to join us,” said Wasyleski.
The students of the Kildala Neighbourhood who were there with their parents were excited to see the new playground being put together and cannot wait to use it when it’s done.
There will be a grand opening once the students are back to school in September.
