REPORTING · 14th August 2015
The Second Annual Man’s Best Friend Show and Shine will be taking place on Saturday, August 22nd at the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce.
“The event is put on to support and raise money for the Kitimat Humane Society,” said Executive Director, Trish Parsons.
The Harley Davidson Shop in Smithers will be coming down with their mobile service center so riders could service their bikes on the day of the show. They will also have demo bikes so people could try out a motorcycle.
Registration is by donation. Prizes this year are Best in Show, sponsored by Harley Davidson in Smithers and All West Glass. There will also be door prizes and music by DJ Brent Hanna.
There are also arrangements made so people who have registered their bikes in the show and shine can camp at the Snowflake Community Fairgrounds before and after the show. This way, they do not have to rush home following the show. Registration will be done the day of the show and at the Snowflake Fairground the night before.
For the public who wishes to see some bikes, there will be food vendors and activities for the children.
Parsons thanked all of the Organizing Committee and all of the people who have sponsored the event. She explained the Organizing Committee has been working in the back ground supported by the Chamber of Commerce.
“Without volunteers and dedicated people who are very supportive of other community events, it’s very tough to do all of those. It was the initiative of Shaun [Barbosa] and Ian [Pereira], who got together trying to do things to support the Humane Society. It’s amazing the support that comes out,” said Parsons.
