Kitimat City Council Meets tonight, Monday, July 20th for their Regular Meeting of Council. The meeting begins at 7:30 Pm and it will take place in the Council Chambers at Northwest Community College.
There are four presentations Scheduled. The first will be by Gaby Poirier and by Kevin Dobbin from Rio Tinto Alcan to present an update to Council. They will be followed by Sergeant Graham Morgen with the Monthly Policing Report.
There will be several presenters from CIVEO asking Council for an extension of their temporary camp and temporary kitchen permits. The final presenter will be Ken Maitland, a volunteer from KUTE talking about Council’s sponsorship of the hazardous waste event.
Under Bylaws, Council will adopt the bylaw to create a density bonus contributable to the affordable housing fund from camps. There is a letter from Chevron asking Council to reopen the public hearing however.
After approving the minutes from previous meetings, Council will face five reports, the first from CIVEO and the second is a Temporary Work Camp Extension application from Kitimat LNG. There is also an application for a license of Occupation for the Kitpark Weather Station. The final two reports concern the Leisure Services Fee Schedule for 2015 and 2016. Finally, there is a request for information from the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development.
Council will then receive minutes from two of their committees. The meeting will end with the Council Reports.
