Festivals Kitimat plans are almost complete, as we are just over a week away from the Canada Day Celebration in Kitimat!
The Canada Day Celebrations starts off with the 7th Annual Memorial Hill Climb on Saturday June 27th starting at 10:00am; rain out day will be on June 28th. Join the crowd to see who will be crowned 2015’s King or Queen of the Hill. There is a Hill Climb Dance at Riverlodge on Saturday June 27th doors open at 7:30pm and tickets can be purchased at Kal Tire for $20.
Start celebrating your Canada Day at the upper City Centre Mall on July 1st from 7:00 – 11:00am by enjoying a pancake breakfast hosted by the Kitimat Humane Society. Don’t forget that on Canada Day Kitimat will be offering free bus services from 10:00am – 6:00pm.
The annual Kinsmen Club of Kitimat Canada Day parade will be leaving from Mountainview Square at noon with plenty of floats, marchers and vehicles decorated for Canada’s birthday. There will be three best decorated awards for floats representing the theme of “Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Canadian Flag”.
Outside Riverlodge you will find Food and Craft Vendors at our International Food and Craft Fair, but be sure to save some room because the Girl Guides of Canada will be serving Canada Day birthday cake at 2:00pm. Enjoy the soccer game being played on the Riverlodge soccer field at 1:00pm. Everyone’s favorite Helicopter rides run from 1:00 – 7:00pm make sure you come down and sign up and pay for your ride early to be guaranteed a time to see the beautiful scenery around Kitimat - $50 per person.
Inside the Riverlodge Gymnasium come check out the amazing entries at the CANSTRUCTION competition. Winners to be announced 1:30 – 4:00pm. This event is hosted by LNG Canada and all cans used will be donated to the Kitimat food bank.
Finally, come back and finish your day off at Riverlodge enjoying a fantastic Fireworks display put on by the Kitimat Fire Department at 11:00pm.
