REPORTING · 30th April 2015
As many of you know, the pool is closed due to lack of an agreement between the District of Kitimat and Unifor Local 2300.
Our Club has been crippled by the closure of the pool. We currently have our top swimmers swimming in Terrace which means these kids are travelling back and forth to and from Terrace up to eight times a week. Our Elite swimmers have been forced to leave town, enroll in new schools and move in with billet families in order to maintain their training to keep swimming at National levels. Our Club has gone from over 65 active swimmers to only around 12. We have had to move our traditional May Swim Meet to Prince Rupert. We have tentatively scheduled a Meet for the first week of June but if there is no agreement in place by May 8 we will have to give that Meet up to Terrace.
We, as a Club, are very worried that there has been irreparable damage done to our membership. Our Club needs our pool back and in order to get it we need an agreement between the District of Kitimat and Unifor 2300.
Like a real marlin, our Marlins need to be in the water.

I agree, we need our facilities back, I also use the
pool 5-6 days a week for medical and exercise.
