Kitimat Detachment responded to 62 calls for service during this period. Some of which are as follows:
On Monday February 9th 2015 at 7:49 pm, the Kitimat RCMP attended to a report of an intoxicated male at the KMP camp. A security officer found an intoxicated male in the snow bank. Police attended and observed the male being treated by camp paramedics. Police escorted the male to his room without incident.
On Monday February 9th 2015 at 9:30 pm, the Kitimat RCMP attended to Tamatik Arena following a report of an assault. Police learned that a 24 year old male had punched a 19 year old male in the face following an altercation in the changing room. The victim was transported to Kitimat General Hospital. The suspect was arrested and released on a Promise to Appear in Kitimat Provincial Court in April.
On Tuesday February 10th 2015 at 12:55 pm, the Kitimat RCMP attended to driving complaint on Highway 37 and Oolichan Ave. The complaint stated that she had turned onto southbound Highway 37 from Oolichan Ave when a northbound pick-up truck was overtaking a semi- trailer while in the southbound lane. No license plate of the suspect pick-up truck was obtained and patrols were negative.
On Tuesday February 10th 2015 at 11:50 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of three wolves in the area of Albatross Ave and Cormorant Ave. The complainant stated that the wolves were not aggressive.
On Wednesday February 11th 2015 at 6:07 pm, the Kitimat RCMP attended to a residence for a report of a disturbance. Upon attendance police observed items that had been thrown out of the front door. Police spoke to a female who advised that the disturbance had been verbal and no assault had occurred. The male had left prior to police attendance.
On Thursday February 12th 2015, the Kitimat RCMP received an arrest warrant for a male who failed to attend court. The male a 54 year old believed to be from Victoria, had been charged with section 63 of the B.C. Sport Fishing Regulations for fishing with a prohibited method and he had failed to attend court as required. Police are attempting to locate the male.
On Friday February 13th 2015 12:39 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of a missing 15 year old male. The male was last seen by a social worker in Kitimat. Through social media police learned that male was in Prince Rupert. The Kitimat RCMP requested the assistance of the Prince Rupert RCMP who located the male.
On Saturday February 14th 2015 at 1:59 pm, the Kitimat RCMP attended to a complaint of a disturbance at the Kitimat General Hospital. A male patient was causing a disturbance by talking loudly on his cell phone. The male had left prior to police attendance. The officer contacted the male. Hospital staff were provided with an update.
On Sunday February 15th 2015 at 12:01 am, the Kitimat RCMP while conducting a drinking driving check on Haisla Blvd. checked a southbound pick-up truck. The driver was chewing bubble gum and denied consuming any alcohol. An odour of liquor was detected when the male was standing outside the vehicle. An approved screening device demand was read. The driver blew “warn” twice. The driver a 42 year old male from Ontario received an immediate 3 day driving prohibition.
On Sunday February 15th 2015 at 12:22 am, the Kitimat RCMP while conducting a drinking driving check on Haisla Blvd. stopped a southbound vehicle. The driver displayed symptoms of impairment. An approved screening device demand was read. The driver blew a “fail” twice. The driver a 36 year old male from Quebec received an immediate 90 day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
