NEWS RELEASE · 8th February 2015
Rio Tinto Alcan
This is effective Tuesday morning. Please refer to the BC Operations Emergency Notification Facebook page for updates. Additionally I would ask that you share this post with friends and family members who work for Rio Tinto Alcan.
CHANGES TO SHUTTLE SERVICE TO BC OPERATIONS BEGINNING TUESDAY, 10 FEBRUARY 2015.
Due to the impacts of the heavy snow fall received in Kitimat, Rio Tinto Alcan will continue to reduce traffic at the smelter site and in the parking areas.
Beginning Tuesday, 10 February, Rio Tinto Alcan will provide a new shuttle service for its BC Operations employees from the Mountain View Square parking lot in Kitimat. This service will be for essential service employees that are scheduled to work on Tuesday. Some Rio Tinto Alcan departments that are not part of the essential service team will be contacted by their managers for alternative options. Unless you are contacted by your manager, please take the appropriate shuttle to ensure you are able to be at you pre-start meetings.
The shuttle pick up from Mountain View Square will begin at 5:30am and run every hour. Pick up times will be 5:30am, 6:30am, 7:30am. Shuttles will provide return trips from the plant beginning at 4:00pm. There will be one night shift pick up at Mountain View Square taking place at 5:30pm.
If it is impossible to meet the shuttle schedule, BC Operations employees are asked to car pool as a last option. This shuttle service will run until further notice.
THE SHUTTLE SERVICE CURRENTLY IN PLACE WILL CONTINUE TO RUN UNTIL THE EVENING OF MONDAY, 9 FEBRUARY.
