We have been told it will most likely be a busy week for Kitimat City Council starting with a regular meeting on Monday, February 2nd starting at 7:30 Pm in the Council Chambers at Northwest Community College

The meeting begins with a presentation by John Farrell, General Manger of Community Futures Pacific Northwest about the 2015 Northwest Growth Conference.

After approving Minutes, Council goes into reports and communications.

The first report is about what is necessary for the Council Chamber Video system and the communications upgrade. Following the report is a request for Council to support a grant application for the Sewage Treatment Plant.

The next report deals with the Community Grants and Sponsorship Program followed by a grant request from the Kitimat Housing Action Committee. There is a report on Canada’s 150th Birthday Celebration and a request for Pre-budget approval for exercise equipment.

Finally, there is a report on the Community Recognition of Excellence Awards.

On Tuesday, February 3rd, there is a Public Hearing for the rezoning of the land which the Alexander Townhouses currently sit on. Following the hearing, at a Special Meeting of Council, Council is scheduled to give 2nd reading to the Bylaw to rezone the land.

We were also informed on Friday, January 30th, there could possibly be a third meeting of Council on Wednesday, February 4th. Stay tuned for further information.
