Kitimat City Council has two meetings this week, one on Monday, January 19th and a second on January 20th.

The Monday Night Meeting is a Regular Meeting of Council. It starts at 7:30 Pm in the Council Chambers at Northwest Community College.

The meeting begins with a public hearing concerning the collection of money from construction camps o help fund affordable housing.

Under presentations, there is a presentation on the Northwest Growth Conference Partnership. Then Staff Sergeant Phil Harrison will be presenting the Monthly Policing Report.

Under Bylaws is the final adoption of the Leisure Services Fees and Charges amendment Bylaw.

After approving the minutes of Council, there are 7 reports. The first relates to the public hearing from earlier in the meeting. The second is request for a letter of support to help the Snow Valley Nordic Ski Club purchase a grooming machine.

Report number three relates to adopt changes to the District of Kitimat Communications Policy. It is followed by a report card on the Official Community Plan. The next report is on pre-approval for items for the 2015 budget. Report 6 is the Pre-Budget Approval for Engineering and report seven is the statement of accounts for December 2014.

The meeting concludes with the commission and Committee Minutes and the City Council Reports.

On Tuesday, January 20th, the ‘meeting’ begins at 7:30 Pm in the Council Chambers at Northwest Community College. The meeting is a Public Hearing Concerning a zoning change proposed by Coast to Coast holdings at the Alexander Townhouses to develop eight 12 unit apartment buildings and one 5 unit townhouse.
