There is a lot to do on New Year’s Eve in Kitimat. Parties… Spending quality time with friends and family… More parties… Free busing… One of the annual events which takes place every year is the First Night free swimming and skating which takes place on December 31st.

The good thing about an event like this is: “That parents and families can come together and do an activity and have that quality time and enjoy it while they are here,” said Marcy Rice, Recreation Programmer. “The quality time is the important time for families.”

Both the new section of the pool and the Tamitik Arena were packed with families having a good time.

In addition to the free access to recreation, there were donuts and goodie bags for families to enjoy, a snappy New Year’s Photo Booth complete with party favours to make for some memorable photos and a Kitimat Recreation themed quiz with an Acer Tablets as prizes for two lucky winners.
