Kitimat Detachment responded to 105 calls for service during this period. Some of which are as follows:
On Monday December 8th 2014 at 3:05 pm, the Kitimat RCMP were advised of an intoxicated male on a walkway near east Columbia Ave. Police found a 55 year old male lying on the sidewalk in the snow. The male was transported to the Kitimat RCMP cells where paramedics assessed him and transported him to the Kitimat General Hospital.
On Tuesday December 9th 2014 at 2:19 am, the Kitimat RCMP conducted a vehicle stop on Haisla Ave in the service centre area after observing a traffic violation. The driver displayed numerous signs of impairment including being unsteady on his feet. The officer read the driver the approved screening device demand and the driver blew a fail on two screening devices. The driver a 44 year old male from Alberta was issued an immediate 90 day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
On Tuesday December 9th 2014 at 2:15 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a report missing person report from the mother of a missing 13 year old female. The Kitimat RCMP conducted checks and requested the assistance of the Terrace RCMP with some checks of residences. The female was located approximately 2 hours later at a residence in Kitimat.
On Wednesday December 10th 2014 at 6:15 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a complaint of a group of males behind Nechako Centre who were picking fights with people. Police attended and located an intoxicated male (age 22 years) who was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and lodged in Kitimat RCMP cells until sober.
On Wednesday December 10th 2014 at 7:22 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of a collision on Highway 37 near Onion Lake. The complainant reported that she swerved to miss an animal and her vehicle ended up in the ditch. The complainant advised that the animal was not struck and a tow truck was enroute. No injuries were reported.
On Thursday December 11th 2014 at 11:48 am, the Kitimat RCMP received a complaint of a theft from a residence. The complainant advised that two males who her roommate had met at a liquor establishment returned to their residence. The complainant observed a tablet missing and her purse in the garage the following morning. The file remains under investigation.
On Thursday December 11th 2014 at 3:39 pm, the Kitimat RCMP attended a Kingfisher Ave apartment and conducted a check of a female who had called the detachment intoxicated. Upon attendance another female in the apartment was found to have an unendorsed warrant from Kamloops RCMP. Police arrested the 22 year old female who was held for court.
On Friday December 12th 2014 at 8:55 pm, the Kitimat RCMP conducted a vehicle stop on Lahakas Blvd after the driver of the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop at a traffic light. The driver of the vehicle was identified as a prohibited driver. The driver a 28 year old male resident of Kitimat faces charges of driving while prohibited.
On Friday December 12th 2014 at 9:08 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of domestic dispute at a Kildala residence. A 24 year old male resident of Kitimat faces charges of assault. The police liaised with the Ministry of Children and Family Development to ensure the safety of the female victim and a newborn child.
On Saturday December 13th 2014, the Kitimat RCMP conducted a counter attack roadblock from 2100-0300 hours throughout Kitimat. Two 3 day immediate roadside prohibitions were issued following “warn” reading on the approved screening device. A 30 year old female resident of Kitimat and a 44 year old male resident of Alberta received the 3 day driving prohibitions. A 38 year old female was also observed driving while prohibited under the criminal code and faces charges of driving while prohibited. In addition a 34 year old female was issued a violation ticket for no driver’s license and the vehicle she was driving was impounded for 7 days as she did not hold a valid driver’s license.
On Sunday December 14th 2014 at 12:38 am, an officer with the Kitimat RCMP observed a vehicle driving erratically on Haisla Blvd tailgating another vehicle. A vehicle stop was initiated and the driver displayed signs of impairment. The driver was read the approved screening device demand and subsequently blew “fail” on two screening devices. The driver a 48 year old male resident of Kitimat received a 90 day immediate driving prohibition and a 30 day vehicle impound.
