On Wednesday, November 26th, the Kitimat Museum and Archives hosted a presentation: Boom Town Kitimat, by Walter Thorne.
“Kind of a look at what 1954 was like and 60 years later, 2014, what Boom town 2014 looks like. It was kind of a comparison contrast sense and a lot of reminiscing. A lot of pioneers were here who lived in the 54 era and were able to fine tune and add to some of the comments and it was an interesting kind of an evening full of flash backs and sketching and wondering whether the past would be repeated in the future… who knows,” said Thorne.
Thorne explained that by looking at the past, we can learn the bust is inevitable. People think the 50’s were good times but they were not.
“Nothing’s really changed,” said Thorne.
If you missed this great presentation, stay tuned because in January, Walter Thorne will be presenting again at the Senior’s Centre.
