The Kitimat Christmas Hamper Appeal would like to thank everyone who requested a hamper for completing and dropping off their Request Forms. Delivery date will be the morning of Saturday, December 20th, and our committee is very busy getting organized for that big day. It is important to notice for those of you receiving a hamper that an adult or teen must be at home the morning of delivery in order to sign for the hamper – hampers not signed for will not be left but will be returned to the Food Bank. Returned hampers may be picked up on Tuesday, December 23rd between 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Donations of non-perishable food, unwrapped gifts and cash/cheques may be dropped off under the Christmas tree of our sponsor, Envision Financial Credit Union, the Henning Sharing Tree at the Kitimat Insurance office upper level City Centre Mall, and cheques only can also be dropped off at our former sponsor, Wings Travel. Receipts are issued for all donations of $10 and over.

As mentioned last week, Gareen Ball, along with her guests, will be hosting her annual Christmas “Sharing Tree” program sponsored by Bell Media, on Saturday, December 13th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Please drop by and join in the fun – donations gratefully accepted.

Yolanda Leighton and William Wesley of CFNR hosted their annual Christmas food/gift drive in front of Super Valu this past Saturday, December 6th, and were very successful bringing in food and gifts as well as $1610.15 in cash – thanks to everyone who supported their efforts and a special thank you to Super Valu for their huge donation of food.

Thank you to the ladies of the Trefoil Guild who helped make up ladies and gentlemen Christmas bags to be included in the hampers. These ladies make up the bags every year and they are much appreciated.

Cash donations for the past two weeks include: K Monto $20; Food Banks BC $45.95; J&A Robinson $25; Girl Guides $20 plus five gift cards; Riverlodge Food, Funds & Fitness $20 (as well as non-perishable food); Anonymous $100; J Stewart $200; Anonymous $300; R Price $10; B Cranch $120; J&K McGourty $30; LNG Canada 20 ($25 gift certificates); CFNR Annual Drive $1610.15; M Lapointe $50; International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 993 $500; L Strecheniuk $100; D.L. Baker Construction $4050; L&A Sadler $100; Anonymous $100; Anonymous $80; S&D Burrows $400 and the Haisla Cancer Support Group $1000 bringing total cash donations to $7990.15. Thank you to everyone who has donated thus far – only another $50,000 to go to meet last year’s total of $58,000.
