REPORTING · 28th November 2014
Walter McFarlane
Kitimat City Council was given a report from administration advising them to release the second $50,000 to the Hirsch Creek Golf and Winter Club on November 17th. In exchange for the money, the club will provide the District with Surplus Lands around the Club.

The report lists a motion from Council and the criteria for the District to release the money.

“In addition to the operating the club, the Hirsch Golf and Winter Club shall provide: Salaries and benefits of the operation Manager Position; Job description for the Operations Manager Position; Copy of any contract with the Operations Manager; Monthly financial statements; District Membership on the Steering Committee; Provide Council with a verbal year end summery report; Bi-annual writing or verbal management and financial report for the Club’s past operating year; Written or verbal update as to the HCGWC planned 2015 operation (including Financial and Capital); Five year operational plan; Report of any significant investment from local industry. Provide the grant to the HCGWC through installments to ensure requested items are provided,” reads the report.

The report explains they have received some of the information requested by the District of Kitimat. However, the club cannot provide a five year plan at this time, although it is being worked on. A draft is anticipated in early 2015 and the plan is expected in late 2015. Administration believes it’s time to release the funding.

Councillor Mario Feldhoff made the motion. He stated the lands which the District will receive are substantial and the club has provided the information they are looking for.

Councillor Phil Germuth requested the information which was given to the administration also be given to Council. They agreed.

Earlier in the meeting, Councillor Rob Goffinet wanted to know where to find maps of where the surplus land would be. He was told it was not on the website but they could post it. It was posted here: http://www.kitimat.ca/EN/meta/news/archives/2014/acquisition-of-unused-lands.html with a statement that the two parties will work towards the acquisition of the lands in 2015.

The motion was called and carried.
