NEWS RELEASE · 22nd November 2014
Rio Tinto Alcan
Rio Tinto Alcan is very pleased to provide a donation of $30,000 in total on behalf of both BC Operations and KMP to support the operation of a cold weather homeless shelter in Kitimat for the upcoming 2014-2015 winter season.
This is the first donation under Rio Tinto Alcan’s re-established Northern BC Community Investment Fund program and a most worthy cause. This Fund allows our organization to contribute to community-building initiatives which speak to our core values, namely health, safety, the environment and social considerations.
Our organization is currently undergoing significant, but exciting change as we prepare for a new era of modernized aluminium production. We recognize that our host community of Kitimat is undergoing changes right along with us as we experience a time of growth. We hope this financial contribution will serve our most vulnerable members of the community well.
Our operations have been a proud community partner in Kitimat since 1954 and we are committed to a strong relationship with the community for decades to come.
