In the early hours of October 9th, 2011, RCMP reported a stabbing took place in the Whitesale Neighbourhood and a man and a woman had been assaulted and required immediate medical attention. A suspect was apprehended.

Teresa Praticante Rego succumbed to the injuries she suffered.

Two days later, In the Terrace Supreme Court, on the 11th of October, 2011, Tyler Eli stood before the judge and was charged with second degree murder, aggravated assault and break and enter.

According to the Kitimat RCMP, On Wednesday, November 5th, Eli was found guilty in the Terrace Supreme Court of second degree murder, attempted murder and break and enter and will be sentenced at a later date.
