REPORTING · 8th November 2014
Corinne Scott and Michelle Martins from Rotary stepped up to present to Council on Monday, November 3rd about the 2014 campaign for Light up Kitimat, which they hope will become an annual event.
“The intent of the Light Up Kitimat Campaign is for all the residents, businesses and industry community organizations to decorate with Christmas Lights, so we have all the lights turned on at the same time on November the 22nd. There will be a parade of lights, a display of lights at Mountainview Square starting at 7:00,” said Scott.
Martins explained the event will take place on Saturday, November 22nd at 7:00 Pm at Mountain View Square, coinciding with the craft fair. They have multiple partners and sponsors for the event. She thanked the District of Kitimat for sponsoring the event in both 2013 and 2014.
Scott said Santa will be joining them and there will be hotdogs, hot chocolate and cookies. There will be carolers. She added they are still looking for partners.
“We’re asking you to mark November 22nd on your calendar and be there at 7:00 at Mountainview Square. Everyone is welcome to kick off your holiday season this year with a fun and festive event,” said Scott.
