Mayor Joanne Monaghan began the Regular Meeting of Kitimat City Council on Monday, October 20th with her customary good news.
“At the top of the list is the sale, and proposed redevelopment of the Alexander Townhouses,” said Monaghan.
She said it was something a lot of people wanted to see.
She participated in the signing of the LNG Canada Document and Kitimat LNG had an open house. She stated that keeping the community informed was good news.
Ron Poole and several Council members attended the LNG Alliance Announcement in Terrace. All the LNG industries signed an alliance to work together when it comes to proposals to the government.
Monaghan gave a speech at the Chamber of Commerce’s monthly meeting. She attended a presentation called Kitimat: Lets Talk where people could have their questions answered.
Council was presented on the original Community Plan by Daniel Martin and it would come up again later in that meeting.
The Interagency Committee met. Monaghan learned what was going on in Kitimat. She had 4 radio interviews and a TV shoot.
The Mayor attended the Housing Task Force meeting where plans for affordable housing were being looked at.
The Minister of Transportation, Todd Stone had breakfast with Council. The CAO took them on a tour of Kitimat emphasizing the bridge and the road through town.
Finally, Mayor Joanne Monaghan had the opportunity to answer phones during the Telethon which raised over $100,000 thanks to a contribution from LNG Canada. She thanked all the volunteers.
