If you are a fan of the Nechako Neighbourhood or live there and always wondered what the bird your street is named after looks like, now is a good time to go down to the Kitimat Museum and Archives and find out. Former Kitimat resident Summer Breeze who lived in that neighbourhood has an exhibit on Birds of the Nechako Neighbourhood. The exhibit was opened on October 24th. It will close on November 29th.
“There are 35 paintings, one for each street of the Nechako Neighbourhood, which each street is named after a bird,” said Breeze.
One of the things which fascinated Breeze about Kitimat was each of the neighbourhoods had a theme. She was curious to learn more about them and from that, an art project was born. The exhibit has been in the works for over two years.
What comes next? Breeze expressed the Fish of Cablecar is in the works, but also the trees of Imatra Heights if that project ever comes online.
