Saint Anthony’s Elementary School got a bit of an announcement on Tuesday, September 16th. The Rotary Club of Kitimat was present to name the school as Kitimat’s Peace School for 2014.

“One of the reasons that we chose Saint Anthony’s School as a 2013-2014 year is because of the Rotary Four Way Test,” said Linda Campbell. She told them the four way test is displayed in the Saint Anthony’s School.

“Your school participates in special events that demonstrates peace, understanding, good will and service, service is helping others,” said Campbell.

She explained some events which take place in the school, which include sending money to other countries, a year round anti bully program and raising money for the SPCA which does more than helping people, it helps animals as well.

Saint Anthony’s was provided with a peace pole to go in their school garden. It reads: ‘May Peace Prevail on Earth.’ The pole was donated anonymously by the carver who prepared it. The school also received a free trip to the swimming pool courtesy of the District of Kitimat.

Saint Anthony’s Elementary School participated in the Peace Day Celebration with both a flash mob dance and by singing A Song of Peace.
