On August 22nd, Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification Announced $233,000 in Federal Funding under the Community Infrastructure Improvement fund to support five infrastructure projects in British Columbia.
"I am pleased to announce our Government's support for infrastructure improvement projects in BC's Nechako, North Coast, and Cariboo regions. These facilities provide important community services, and support the prosperity of our communities for years to come." said Remple.
In Kitimat, the District, $27,000 will be improving accessibility at the various District Facilities. This includes installing a handicap pool lift and ladder at the Same Lindsay Aquatic Centre. It will also include automated doors, accessible picnic tables and accessible playground structures.
The other recipients were Eagle Creek Recreation Commission, the Quesnel and District Child Development Centre Association, the District of Fort St. James and the Tl’azt’en Nation
