The 35th Telethon Annual Aluminum City Telethon is coming up and this year’s theme is 35 Years and Going Strong. They are getting ready to raise the curtain on October 19th and it will run from 11 am to 9 pm.
“We’ve already confirmed 12 acts and our programmers are working away and it’s going to be a great show,” said Margaret Warcup. “We’re going to have a lot of food venders [and] we’re scheduling them so people can come for lunch or dinner so that the theatre is full and people can come out and enjoy the acts as well as some food and things like that.”
At the moment, they are talking about livestreaming the Telethon on the Community Foundation website. There will be a ‘donate now’ button on the website so they will be able to get the receipts out to the donators right away.
Also, the Kitimat Community Foundation is accepting letters of intent for applying for funding in the coming year. The letter of intent is on their web site www.kitimatcommunityfoundation.ca
The big challenge this year is the host.
“We had a couple of hosts in mind, and… with various things that happen in life, they’re not able to do it the full day so we’re looking at doing a co-hosting type schedule where there is two people on and they overlap and they rotate a little bit so we don’t have a primary host at the moment,” said Warcup.
Anyone who wants to be a part of the telethon this year should contact the Child Development Centre or Jean Nidd. Their next meeting is October 2nd, a Thursday Night at the CDC at 7:00. They are looking for Volunteers.
“Come and help us, its fun,” said Warcup.
