REPORTING · 8th September 2014
Walter McFarlane
Kitimat City Council began with a public hearing considering the rezoning Riverbrook Estates on Tuesday, September 2nd. There were no members of the public who came forward to present to Council about it.

At tonight’s September 8th Meeting, Leonard Kerkhoff is scheduled to present on the Riverbrook estates. Council is also expecting the Housing Study which has been conducted by the province to come in this week as well.

Staff recommended the Council Adjourn the Public Hearing until the Regular Meeting of Council on September 15th. There were no new written submissions so the public hearing was adjourned to the September 15th Meeting.

“I have mixed feelings about the amount of townhouses being proposed,” said Feldhoff. He said if there was a row of townhouses taken out on one side, he would be more in favour of the proposal. He wanted to know what the change would be to the cost of the remaining units.

Staff promised to pass that question to the developer and suggested Feldhoff ask the question next week when the proponent is before them.

Councillor Edwin Empinado asked if the District has received the result of the traffic study concerning the effect of the traffic on Liard and Nadina. The response was no. They hoped the Council would receive it shortly.
