Kitimat RCMP
Kitimat Detachment responded to 99 calls for service during this period.Some of which are as follows:

On Monday August 18th 2014 at 9:45 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a complaint of two abandoned pick-up trucks in the middle of the Kitimat River near the boat launch off of Chinook Ave. Upon attendance the two trucks were gone. It appeared that the pick-up trucks had attempted to cross the river but got stuck temporarily.

On Tuesday August 19th 2014 at 10:40 pm, the Kitimat RCMP responded to a complaint of someone screaming in the area of Wakita St. Upon attendance police located three ATV’s one of which was being towed. Police learned that one male had fallen off of an ATV which prompted the scream.

On Wednesday August 20th 2014 at 12:24 am, the Kitimat RCMP received a report from KMP security of an intoxicated female whose vehicle was in the ditch near the KMP camp. Upon attendance police located the vehicle which had crossed the centre line and oncoming lane of traffic before resting in a ditch. The driver was grossly impaired. The driver refused to provide a sample of her breath into a roadside screening device. The driver a 29 year old female from Nanaimo was issued a 90 day immediate driving prohibition and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

On Thursday August 21st 2014 at 12:15 am, the Kitimat RCMP were conducting a drinking and driving check on Haisla Blvd. The driver of a pick-up check was stopped and displayed signs of impairment. The driver blew two fails into a roadside screening device. The driver, a 31 year old male from Chilliwack B.C. received an immediate 90 day driving prohibition and a 30 day vehicle impoundment.

On Thursday August 21st 2014 at 5:00 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of a theft from a jewelry store at City Centre mall. The male suspect stole seven rings and fled on foot. While investigating the theft police were advised that the suspect also stole a digital projector from a computer store. The Kitimat RCMP are continuing to investigate.

On Friday August 22nd 2014 at 1:45 am, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of seven youths smashing a bus stop window at Columbia Ave and Kuldo Blvd. The youths fled upon police attendance. One window pane was observed to be damaged.

On Friday August 22nd 2014 at 12:20 am, the Kitimat RCMP were advised of a black bear at a residence on Duncan St. The bear was gone prior to police attendance.

On Saturday August 23rd 2014 at 12:00 pm, the Kitimat RCMP attended to a complaint of a found chain saw. The chain saw was found in the area of Columbia Ave.

On Sunday August 24th 2014 at 2:20 pm, the Kitimat RCMP responded to a disturbance in the area in the area of Mountainview Square. Upon attendance police learned that a female took exception to another female taking a photo of her dog while in her vehicle. The female that took the picture was concerned about the dog’s welfare. Both parties were spoken to.

On Sunday August 24th 2014 at 5:30 pm, the Kitimat RCMP responded to a complaint of an ATV collision on Teal St. Upon attendance police learned that an 11 year old boy had fallen off the back of an ATV. The boy was transported by ambulance to Kitimat General Hospital with minor injuries.
