Kitimat City Council meets tonight, Monday August 18th for their regular meeting of Council in the Council Chambers at Northwest Community College.

The meeting starts with two public hearings, one concerning the zoning amendment for Riverbrook Estates and one for the zoning amendment for Kingfisher.

There are three presentations scheduled before Council. The first comes from Gareth Scrivner, Conservation Officer on the topic of an update on the Bear Aware Program. Then comes Staff Sergeant Phil Harrison with the Monthly Policing Report for July. Finally, there is a presentation from resident Rick Flegel on MK Bay Marina.

In addition to the 3rd reading of the zoning amendment bylaw for Kingfisher, there is the Final Adoption of the Strawberry Meadows zoning amendment bylaw and the Final Adoption of the Road Naming Bylaw.

For reports, there is a report concerning providing a grant to a fundraising hockey game, the Montreal Canadian’s Alumni vs the Kitimat All Stars. The funds raised will go to the Kitimat Minor Hockey, Kitimat Youth Soccer and the Snow Valley Skating Club.

Second on reports is a request from AFFNO for a grant for the 2015 Winterfest. It is followed by the appointment of election officers and a report on the Zoning Amendment Bylaw for Riverbrook Estates. There is a report on the disposal of Municipal Property Lot A, Block 1021. The final report is the statements of accounts for July.

The Council ends with the City Councillor Reports as always.
