The Kitimat Multicultural Society were raising the flags at the Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, June 28th. People with origins from all over the world were out to raise their country’s flag. It was organized by the Multicultural Society and the Chamber of Commerce.

“its International Flag Raising day and we are very proud and fortunate in Kitimat to see all of you here,” said Raymond Raj.

Mayor Joanne Monaghan told the crowd of people it warmed her heart to see so many people out on a day when the weather was unpredictable. She was happy how the many cultures of Kitimat were able to work together and raise flags from all the different countries.

Raj expressed next year’s potluck will be on the 7th of March. The Multicultural Society will be celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2016. He invited people to join the Multicultural Society or donate to them.

The flags were raised and the celebration was followed by hot dogs and cake.
