The Kinsmen Club of Kitimat hosted the annual Canada Day Parade, under the theme of Christmas in July. There were about 26 entries in the parade this year.
The floats this year were outstanding. A few noteworthy floats included Rio Tinto Alcan’s Float, decked out in balloons, Kitimat Search and Rescue, Dance Kitimat and the Kitimat Bear Aware which featured a young man dancing with a stuffed bear.
In addition, there were a number of marchers and a few cars. The Kitimat 4H club were at the end of the parade with one of their horses dressed like ‘Rudolph.’
Prizes went to the Kitimat Dynamic Gymnastics Club which took first in the parade. Second place went to the Luso Canadian Club and 3rd went to The Douglas Channel Watch.
