It is summer and there are plenty of activities in Kitimat for the children to do once schools out. As always, the Kitimat Museum and Archives is putting on their Summer of Adventure. It runs from the 7th of July to the 15th of August.
“This summer we have a huge emphasis on exploration. We’re going to be doing a lot of museum oriented activities, try to teach the kids a little about Kitimat while we’re doing it and [teach them] about some of the First Nations people we have around here. We are going to do lots of science experiments. We are going to try to leave the museum whenever possible if it’s nice out and take the kids around town showing them local places, ” said Chris Milne
This year, they changed a lot of the old programs based on what worked and what did not. They plan to teach the children and making them a part of the learning experience.
There has already been some excitement on the program: Superhero Boot camp. The plan is to train the children to harness their inner superhero to capture the bad guys. The tours are always popular but the beach party is expected to be a really fun day.
“We’re going to blow up a volcano. I think we can’t stress that enough,” said Milne.
