Kitimat Detachment responded to 94 calls for service during this period. Some of which are as follows:
On Monday June 16th 2014 at 7:45 pm, an off duty member of the Kitimat RCMP followed a vehicle southbound on Highway 37 into Kitimat. The off duty member observed the vehicle driving in an erratic manner. The vehicle pulled into a parking lot on Tsimshian Blvd. The off duty member called the Kitimat RCMP while maintaining continuity of the driver. Upon arrival of the Kitimat RCMP the driver displayed symptoms of impairment. A roadside screening device demand was read and the driver blew two fails. The driver a 58 year old resident of Surrey, B.C. was issued a 90 day driving prohibition and a 30 day vehicle impound.
On Wednesday June 18th 2014 at 1:00 pm, an off duty officer with the Kitimat RCMP located an all-terrain vehicle abandoned near Hailsa Blvd. The Kitimat RCMP recovered the all-terrain vehicle and are attempting to locate its owner.
On Wednesday June 18th 2014 at 4:30 pm, a female attended the Kitimat detachment and advised that she was bit by a Rottweiler dog while walking on Koho St. earlier in the day. The female suffered minor injuries. Police are attempting to locate the owner of the dog.
On Thursday June 19th 2014 at 6:20 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received an anonymous complaint of an intoxicated male at the City Centre Mall. Upon attendance police located an extremely intoxicated male who was unable to care for himself. A 40 year old male resident of Kitimat was arrested for being intoxicated in public and was lodged in Kitimat RCMP cells.
On Friday June 20 th 2014 a 12:20 am, the Kitimat RCMP were conducting a road check on Kingfisher Ave. and stopped a vehicle. The driver displayed symptoms of impairment. The driver blew a fail on the first approved screening device test and a warn on the second test. The driver a 53 year old male from Kitimat received a 3 day driving prohibition.
On Saturday June 21st 2014 at 1:40 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a complaint from a resident on Skeena St. regarding a construction company that had not commenced construction after a deposit was made. Police assisted by contacting the construction company who stated they would contact the complainant. This file remains under investigation.
On Saturday June 21st 2014 at 4:25 am, the Kitimat RCMP located a female on Haisla Blvd. who had an outstanding warrant . The female was arrested and was subsequently found to be in breach of an undertaking. The female a 22 year old resident of Kitimat was released on a promise to appear and will appear in court in August.
On Sunday June 22nd 2014 at 12:40 am, the Kitimat RCMP responded to a complaint of an intoxicated patron refusing to leave and wanting to fight the bouncer at the Ol’ Keg. Upon attendance by police a male was arrested for causing a disturbance. The male a 21 year old resident of Calgary was lodged in Kitimat RCMP cells until sober.
On June 22nd 2014 at 3:42 am the Kitimat RCMP responded to a complaint of an assault at the Kitimat Hotel. The complainant stated two males were involved in a fight earlier and she wanted them removed from the property. Police spoke to both parties one of who had a cut under both eyes. Police deemed that the fight was consensual. Both parties removed from the hotel property.
