Kitimat RCMP
Kitimat Detachment responded to 84 calls for service during this period. Some of which are as follows:

On Monday June 9th 2014 at 10:30 pm, an officer with the Kitimat RCMP observed a vehicle drifting over the fog line while driving on Nalabila Blvd. The officer conducted a vehicle stop and the driver had a strong odour of liquor on her breath. An approved screening test was conducted roadside and the driver blew two fails. The driver a 38 year old female resident of Kitimat received an immediate 90 day driving prohibition and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

On Tuesday June 10th 2014 at 11:50 pm, an officer with the Kitimat RCMP while on patrol observed a white scooter being driven by two youths on the side walk while on Lahakas Blvd North. The officer conducted a check of the males and discovered that the white scooter had been stolen from a residence in Kildala. Two 15 year old male residents of Kitimat were arrested and released to the custody of their parents. They will be appearing in provincial court in August.

On Wednesday June 11th at 12:20 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of a small dog panting in a vehicle at the Kitimat General Hospital. Police located the owner of the vehicle and the dog inside the hospital as she was receiving medical treatment. At the request of the owner of the dog police dropped off the dog at the owners residence.

On Wednesday June 11th 2014 at 3:40 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of a female stumbling prior to getting into a Ford Escape. A Kitimat RCMP officer located the vehicle on Lahakas Blvd South and the driver displayed symptoms of impairment. An approved screening device test was conducted roadside and the driver blew two fails. The driver a 46 year old female resident of Kitmat received an immediate 90 day driving prohibition and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

On Thursday June 12th 2014 at 11:10 pm, an officer with the Kitimat RCMP observed a vehicle cross two lanes without signaling and cut off another vehicle on Haisla Blvd. The officer conducted a vehicle stop and the driver displayed gross symptoms of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving. The driver was brought back to the detachment where he blew 160 mg% and 160 mg% (twice the legal limit). The driver a 65 year old male resident of Kitimat received a 90 day driving prohibition and will be appearing in provincial court in August on charges of impaired driving.

On Friday June 13th 2014 at 10:00 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a complaint of an unwanted person at a motel on Tsimshian Blvd. A third party caller stated a male was having a verbal argument with his ex-girlfriend. Police separated both parties.

On Friday June 13th 2014 at 11:30 pm, the Kitmat RCMP received a report of a pick-up truck that had rolled down an embankment on Dyke Rd. Police located the truck and it was unoccupied. Upon speaking with the owner he reported that on Thursday at approximately 3:00 pm he was overtaking a slow moving vehicle when that vehicle swerved to avoid a fallen branch and as a result he swerved to avoid a collision and went down the embankment.

On Saturday June 14th 2014 at 5:00 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a third hand report of a male and female fighting on a transit bus. The complainant advised that both parties had been striking each other however neither appeared injured. The complainant last saw the male and female in the City Centre area. Police made patrols but were unable to locate the parties.

On Sunday June 15th 2014 at 2:00 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a complaint of an impaired driver in the area of the Kuldo Blvd. and Columbia Ave. The complainant had stopped the driver from leaving the scene and updated police when they arrived. An approved screening device test was conducted roadside and the driver blew two fails. The driver a 55 year old male resident of Whitehorse received a 90 day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

On Sunday June 15th 2014 at 11:00 pm, the Kitimat RCMP were conducting a road check on Hailsa Blvd and stopped a vehicle. A driver was stopped and displayed numerous signs of impairment. An approved screening device test was conducted roadside and the driver blew two fails. The driver a 58 year old male resident of Vancouver received a 90 day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
