Kitimat City Council meets tonight, Monday, June 16th for their regular meeting of Council in the Council Chambers at Northwest Community College, at 7:30 Pm.

There are four presentations to Council. The first comes from the Kitimat Bear aware Coordinators who will be presenting the Bear Aware Program. The Kitimat Emergency Awareness Program will be outlining their summer program as well. Staff Sergeant Phil Harrison will be delivering the Monthly Policing Report and Dave Whal from Eagle Edge Charters will be presenting on the North Coast Draft Marine Plan.

After approving minutes, Council goes into reports. The first is the request for a motion on the North Coast Draft Marine Plan from Dave Whal, which would oppose the plan as it is currently presented. There is a request for a travel grant for Kelsey Roberts who has qualified to attend a Selection Camp for women’s Hockey. There is a request for a letter of Support for Kitimat to host the Pee Wee Tier 3 Provincial Hockey Tournament in 2015.

One report asks for a budget transfer of funds for improvements to the Radley Park Washroom and Lift Station. There is a recommendation that money be put aside to assist residents of Kitimat in getting to Shames Mountain. Council will be talking about adjusting the municipal alcohol policy The District is asking Council to provide money to the Fire Mountain Shooting Range to install sound proofing.

The final two reports are a budget amendment for the purchasing of a computer upgrade for 2014 and the statement of accounts for May, 2014. Council will end with reports from the Councillors.
