Kitimat City Council meets tonight, Monday, June 2nd, for a Regular Meeting of Council. This is the first Regular Meeting since May 5th and as such, there is a lot of business which needs to be done. There are five presentations, and 13 reports and communications.

The meeting starts with a public hearing regarding a change to the M1 Manufacturing Zone.

The first presentation comes from Festivals Kitimat regarding the schedule of events for Canada Day. It is followed by Harley Bell On the 2014 Dave Saunders Memorial Hill Climb. Raymond Raj from the Kitimat Multicultural Society will be discussing the new executive and the upcoming flag raising. John Sorenson and the Students MEMSS will be talking about their tour to Costa Rica. Finally, there will be an update on Kitimat LNG from Marc Douglas.

Councillor Mario Feldhoff has a motion to contact Member of Parliaments Bob Zimmer and Nathan Cullen to further discuss Kitimat’s positions on the Kitimat Clean Refinery and Enbridge.

There are thirteen reports. There is a report on Canada Day, the Hill Climb and the 50th anniversary of the Kitimat Ice Rink. There are requests for sponsorships and travel grants from the Rotary Club, the Senior Games, Kitimat Music Scholarship and the Gradation Committee.

There is a report on the change to the M1 Manufacturing Zone, a development permit at the Hill Crest Apartments and the strata conversion policy. There is a letter from the BC Federation of Labour on the ship building policy, a letter on the future of Canada Post and that Council support the Kitamaat Open Basketball Tournament.

Finally, Council concludes with the Mayor and Council Reports.
