The British Columbia Teachers’ Federation (BCTF) has announced that its members will continue to withdraw their services during rotating strikes throughout the province on June 2, 3, 5 and 6, 2014. Each school district will be affected on one day.
As a result, teachers will not be reporting for duty to Coast Mountains School District on Friday, June 6, 2014. School buses will not be running on June 6 and we are requesting that parents do not send their children to school on this day. Schools will not have adequate levels of supervision on June 6 to ensure student safety. While school facilities will remain open under the supervision of school district staff, we will be unable to provide students with instruction during this period of job action. Exceptions to this are programs not staffed by BCTF employees, which includes Kitimat Child Care.
It is the sincere hope of the Board of Education that this dispute will be concluded quickly and that normal school operations will resume as soon as possible. In the meantime, we will do our utmost to keep you informed of any new developments in a timely manner over the next week.
