REPORTING · 16th May 2014

The Welcoming Pole which is being carved for the Entrance to the High School is taking shape. On Thursday, May 8th, Mayor Joanne Monaghan met with the carver, Haisla Artist Nathan Wilson.

The Pole was meant to be a Welcoming Pole to the high school and represent unity. At first, there were 5 students who were helping him but with there being no room for error, Wilson is working on his own. Carved onto the pole is Weegit the Raven and a Beaver or ‘Qolun.’

The pole is scheduled to be raised on June 6th. A companion pole is being discussed with an Eagle and a Killer Whale.
