REPORTING · 7th May 2014
On April 22nd, Mayor Joanne Monaghan signed a proclamation recognizing world Meningitis Day, which is April 24th.
Last year, on February 13th, Janet Munro Representing the BC Meningitis organization came before Council asking for their support. She lost her 23 year old son Bradley Munro in 2011 due to a strain of Meningitis which he was not vaccinated against.
“We are trying to implement the MCV4 Vaccine, right throughout BC School Systems, so that a child like ours doesn’t die from a Vaccine Preventable Disease,” said Munro.
The MCV4 Vaccine, which protects against 4 strains of Meningitis, currently, students are only vaccinated against 1 strain.
