Cheryl Brown was at Council on Monday, April 22nd to invite Council to a Public Health Forum on Wednesday, May 7th, free at the Mount Elizabeth Theatre. A health fair will kick it off at 5:30. The presentation starts at 7:00.
“The Mental Health Addictions and Advisory Committee is putting on a free workshop, called helping yourself to a good night’s sleep. There is a regular psychiatrist that comes into the Kitimat / Terrace area that is also part of the sleep disorders program at UBC hospital and is willing and interested in doing a presentation on getting a good night’s sleep and sleep hygiene and how to ensure that we sleep well,” said Brown.
She explained that people have problems getting enough sleep at night for a variety of reasons. Sometimes, the population cuts sleep short and there are implications.
“It’s about something that for our own health, we really need to pay attention to so it’s a real opportunity to listen to an expert, to talk about this and ask some questions that are interesting too,” said Brown. “You may even go home and have a good night’s sleep as a result of it.”
