With job action being taken by the teachers on Wednesday, April 23rd, Kitimat City High students have receives a bit of a reprieve from the school board. In a press release issued by School District 82, the school board stated the moving of Kitimat City High has been pushed to 2015.

”Kitimat City High Relocation Transition Team

- No meetings until the strike ends, definite revision of September 2014 implementation timeline to September 2015.”

Art Erasmus, the Chair of the School Board explained the teachers cannot meet with administration during the job action and they cannot move forward with this project until they talk with the teachers. They want to do the move right so it will be put off until 2015.

He also expressed to us that the Kitimat City High is not a school closure because the School Board do not consider it a school, they consider it a program and it is moving, not closing.

We have been informed that the meeting at the Legion tonight, Tuesday, April 22nd has been cancelled because of this news.
