Snow Valley Nordic Ski Club
The Snow Valley Nordic Ski Club finally got the dump of snow we’ve been praying for all winter. Although we’ve been managing to ski on the little we’ve had since the New Year, we’ve been confined to only 2 trails that we managed to pack before the rain washed away most of everything else. Now we plan to make up for lost time!
Announcing… The (almost) world famous Snow Valley Chocolate Marathon! It’s chocolate because everyone who crosses the finish line gets a chocolate bar and it’s (almost) world famous because a surprising number of Clubs in the province have agreed with us that medals are fine for the Olympics, but chocolate is it’s own reward.
The marathon will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22 and with 5 distances to choose from you don’t have to be super fit to participate. The 1, 5, 10 and 15 km. races start at 10 am. The 30 km. race starts at 9 am. Bib pick up starts an hour before the race. Check snowvalleynordics.com for preregistration.
On Sunday, Feb. 23rd we’ll hold the postponed Women’s Fest. Lessons and Laughter for women of all ages and skill levels. Check the website for registration.
And on Sunday, March 2 from 1 – 4 pm. we will welcome the public to our very postponed Open House! Free skiing, free lessons, hot drinks and cheap rentals! Fun for everyone! Come and check out the north west’s best kept secret!
Adult lessons are always available on Saturday mornings (check the website) and limited rentals are available on weekends (check you know where).
Our trails are located near Onion Lake, half way between Kitimat and Terrace and we have lit tracks for night skiing. See you out there!
